Indian Motorcycle has introduced a new factory-custom Bobber version born out of its successful Scout line of cruisers. The new MY18 Indian Scout Bobber will be out in US and Canadian dealerships in September this year in Indian Motorcycle Red, Thunder Black, Thunder Black Smoke, Star Silver, Smoke and a new Bronze Smoke finish. The US price tags for the same along with global availability (in markets like India) has yet to be announced.

The new Scout Bobber is the definition of ‘badass’. If you though the Triumph Bobber was cool, you will have to pick your jaw off the ground once you take a look at Indian’s offering. It sits low, comes with knobbly tires and the matte-black treatment for the frame along with everything else that gets bolted on to it. The motorcycle is Indian’s production solution for customers who would often buy a standard bike and then chop it down to get the bobber look. While attempting to get that look the Indian Motorcycle’s Industrial Design (ID) team came up with a design which “pays homage to the mean, stripped-down builds of America’s post-war past.”

The motorcycle is powered by the same 69-cubic-inch, 100 hp V-twin engine as on the other Scout models.

From the tracker handlebars and footpegs that have been moved 1.5-inches (38 mm) rearwards to the new cartridge forks up front, everything has been designed to deliver a more engaged riding position. The bike even sits one inch lower that other models thanks to the lowered suspension, adding to those “badass” looks.

Coming to the blacked-out bits, there’s a black headlight nacelle, minimal engine covers and some ultra-cool vented exhaust shields. Add to this the two-tone, genuine leather bobber seat and a brand new bold Indian “Scout” badge marks makes the styling look not just cool, but minimalist and functional as well.

Indian Motorcycle’s International Product Manager, Ben Lindaman adds: “Scout Bobber focuses on style with its low profile, chopped fenders and blacked out components; it performs really well too. We’ve fitted new cartridge forks up front, the new riding position makes you feel more connected and the engine produces a meaty 94hp making this a great bike to blast around on.”

Reid Wilson, Marketing Director for Indian Motorcycle said: “Scout Bobber is Indian’s leanest machine to date. It’s an incredibly fun motorcycle to ride with the bobber style that many Scout fans have been asking us to build for some time.”
