Volvo’s in-house performance brand, Polestar has launched a series of upgrades for the company’s XC60 SUV. The top of the line T8 model will receive a series of powertrain optimisation’ increasing its power output to 415 bhp (420 PS).

The upgrade pack includes optimisations on five areas of the powertrain. Volvo claims that these boost the XC60’s engine performance, accelerator response and gearshift speed and hold. The changes are designed to provide greater power and torque in the middle of the rev range. This boosts the T8 hybrid’s power from the existing 401 bhp (406 PS) without affecting its pure electric range of 28 miles.

As reported by The Drive, in addition to the power boost, the new Polestar-upgraded XC60s will also feature a better throttle response and faster shift times from its eight-speed automatic transmission. Polestar has also tweaked the engine to deliver more of its power and torque in the middle of the rev range, recalibrating the transmission’s shift points accordingly.

Pricing and launch dates for the Polestar optimisation packs, however, are yet to be revealed by the company.
