Kawasaki Motors has launched the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 in India at a price of Rs 9.98 lakh. This 1,000 cc bike seats two and outputs 142 PS of power. It includes a number of refinements over its predecessor.

Your money gets you a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine with a displacement of 1,043 cc, 142 PS of power at 10,000 rpm and 111 Nm of torque. The bike’s curb mass is a mere 239 kg. Stopping power is courtesy of dual semi-floating 300 mm front disc brakes and a single, rear 250 mm disc brake.

To make the bike easier to drive in certain situations, Kawasaki allows the rider to toggle between two power modes, a low power one and a high power one. Three traction control modes are also available, including one specifically designed for slippery surfaces. Kawasaki’s KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-Lock Braking System) will also make its presence felt.

The frame of the bike is made from five pieces of cast aluminium.

NDTV reports that only 20 units of the bike will be available in India and that bookings have already started. The report also adds that the Kawasaki Z900 in standard kit will be available for about Rs 7.68 lakh.
