Making a must buy list for PC games is a tough proposition since the humble PC has been around for ages but keep in mind that this list is not for all you old school gamers out there. It’s for the newer crop of gamers who’ve recently been initiated which is why we haven’t included some of the older stuff out there.

The Orange Box (Rs. 999)

How can we not recommend a box that has Half-Life 2, Episode 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal? Every PC owner on the planet should posses a copy of this game – if he doesn’t already that is. And yeah we know the Orange Box was released on consoles as well but besides being graphically superior the PC version has been supported really well since launch date. Team Fortress 2 has been receiving steady (FREE) updates ever since it was launched and even today you have tons of people playing the game online.

F.E.A.R. (Rs. 299)

With F.E.A.R. developer Monolith managed to traverse the fine line between survival horror and all out balls to the wall gameplay offering players a creepy yet extremely visceral and intense first person experience. Even to date it remains one of the most cathartic shooters on the planet. It’s a shame the sequel didn’t live up to expectations.

Crysis and Crysis Warhead (Rs. 999 and Rs. 799)

Crysis and its expansion Warhead will make your graphic card their b**ch. While not the official tag of the game this slogan seems pretty appropriate considering both games in all their maxed out glory have the capacity to bring your rig to its knees even today. But we’re not recommending these games strictly for their graphical fidelity alone; it’s the tropical setting and non linear solution to every enemy encounter that had us hooked for days on end.

Left 4 Dead 2 (Rs. 699)

Every one’s dead. The world’s been overrun by zombies. Only four people survive (including you of course). What do you do? You could sit in a corner and cry like a little girl or pick up the nearest weapon and blast those zombies to oblivion with three of your friends.
