In the latter half of October, Sony Ericsson announced that they were planning to upgrade their 2011 range of Xperia smartphones to Google’s latest operating software, Ice Cream Sandwich. The smartphone manufacturer stated that they would push out the update as soon as it was made available to them and that any further announcements regarding it would be made through their official blog. True to their word, Sony Ericsson has revealed that eleven smartphones from their 2011 portfolio are set to receive Android 4.0.

According to a blog post, the manufacturer has stated that there have been questions on their blog regarding their plans to update their handsets beyond Gingerbread. Responding to these comments, Sony Ericsson confirms that they plan to upgrade their entire 2011 range of Xperia smartphones to Ice Cream Sandwich. They say that their developers are working to merge the current Xperia experience with the new features found in Android 4.0.
