Last week, I was really excited because I could lay my hands on my brother’s newly bought iPad. Not that I’ve not used an iPhone before or for that matter even an iPod Touch; but to be the one of the-early-bird-gets-the-worm kind, I got charged up to go check it out. I finally thought of penning down my own views, not a review as I haven’t used all the features that it has to offer but a small what’s-it-all-about article!
A first look at it felt like looking at the iPhone through a magnifying glass! I mean seriously, if you love the iPod touch or the iPhone you will feel as part of the Apple family, there’s no real intuitive design if you did expect something else. You can rest it on your arm or keep it on your lap or well, just hold it! The interface is as good as it gets and browsing through the screen is really smooth. Response time is very fast and sharp as a blade which means opening an application is like butter on bread!
I also saw a video on it and it feels like watching a movie on a shrunk LCD screen! The video quality was quite good and the interface is simply the way Apple likes it! What really added to the package of watching the video was the sound. Now for a device that can be so slim and sleek, to provide speakers that can play at such a nice clarity was what impressed me pretty much. I have experienced the earphones that we get bundled with the iPod and was really surprised because the iPad had something quite different to offer!
Last but definitely not the least, I played a couple of games on it and it felt good, not awesome or bad but good. Maybe because I haven’t played a game that’s made especially for the iPad (it was Street Fighter IV for the iPhone) it felt good, like something that I already expected. Yes, people with big thumbs or fingers can definitely press the right buttons without any qualms!
Overall the experience was very good, but nothing that I didn’t expect out of it. As I mentioned earlier there are lots of things that I didn’t do on it or used it for, so there are lots more still to explore! But I would definitely love to see what do you feel about it, or what do you expect from it because there are chances that you must have used so many features and have so much to tell.
