In this the 21st century, owning technology is one thing but, like it is with what you wear, accessorizing has become a big part of the picture. Devices like the Apple iPhone, iPad and quite a few others like them have an entire environment created around them. This space consists of nothing but accessories that help enhance the devices functionality, features, convenience, looks or simply keep it protected against the elements. The iPad, as old as it is now, is the latest in Apple’s line of mobile devices that has hit the Indian stand and a plethora of accessories for the product have oozed out of the woodwork.

So if you’re looking to jazz up your newly purchased iPad, here are a few accessories you should consider if you haven’t already.

Official iPad Case – Rs. 2,500
The authentic Apple case that’s designed for the iPad, although quite pricey is a choice to seriously consider, but not because it’s supposed to be the best. While it’s very well designed and keeps the device sung as a bug in a rug, the material tends to pick up dust a little too quickly. On the plus side, the case is built with panels that are reinforced to keep it protected from the few bumps and bruises it would otherwise pick up on the way and the folds enable you to prop it up at just the right angle for comfortable use or viewing. The kit also includes a microfiber cloth for getting rid of smudges on the screen.

Misc. Cases – Ranging from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 4000
There are numerous third party manufacturers like Belkin and SwitchEasy who have cases out there in the market that are specifically designed for the iPad. You could opt for cases that, like the official design, allow you prop the device up for ease of use and view, or you could simply choose to go with protective cases, cases that come with all kinds of jazz to fink up your iPad and let’s not leave out the pouches that give you the look and feel of professional laptop case.

Skins, Panels, Silicon Covers – Rs. 750 to 2000
If looks and personalization come before protection then skins and colorful silicon colors are what you need. There’s aren’t too many out there so you won’t get much variety. They keep the rear of the device relatively scratch-free and don’t offer any real protection from the elements. But for those who like sporting their personalities these colorful add-ons are what you should look into. You could also just order customised skins from gelaskins.

iPad Dock/Cradle – Rs. 1300
The official Dock/Cradle from Apple for the iPad is a relatively small but heavy product. The idea is to however keep the cradle plugged in to your home or work PC via USB so you can simply dock your iPad for quick linking to your iTunes account. The Dock also has a Line Out option for hooking it up to a set of speakers. What it could have used is an AV out option instead.
