Acer has announced a new smartphone in its Z series for encouraging users to adopt smartphones. Dubbed Liquid Z5, the company has attached an affordable price tag that reads $230 which is approximately Rs 14,200.
The Z5 sports a 5-inch display and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It is powered by a dual-core 1.3GHz processor. It has mere 4GB onboard storage and the company doesn’t mention any expandable memory slot either. The smartphone also gets a 5-megapixel snapper with a 5 elements f2.4 lens and a backside illuminated sensor with 1.4um x 1.4um pixel size.
Yet another budget Android
Here’s a quick look at some of its specifications:
- 5-inch display with 480 x 854 pixels of resolution
- Wi-Fi, 3G, 2G
- Bluetooth, GPS
- 5-megapixel rear camera
- 4GB onboard storage
Tipping the scale at 147 grams, the Z5 has 145.5 x 73.5 x 8.8 mm dimensions. It comes equipped with DTS sound technology, AcerFloat apps “for real time advanced multitasking”.
The Liquid Z5 should be available starting mid-January in the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Ukraine. Other markets might be announced later this year. Considering it a device for emerging markets, we expect it to launch for India too. Considering the Moto G and Galaxy Grand 2 will hit Indian store shelves this month, the entry-level to mid-range competition will get only fiercer.
