Popular retail brand, Amazon, in order to further its cloud computing service; has acquired a couple of domain names.
The domain names – A.Co, Z.Co, K.Co, and Cloud.Co have been purchased by Amazon from a Colombia-based domain registry firm, .Co. .Co is the same firm that lent the domain name T.Co, for free to the popular social networking platform, Twitter. It had done so back then to spread the word on its brand. Now, however, Amazon has acquired these domain names for an undisclosed amount.
The domain registry firm is quite popular which is obvious from the fact that the firm has a little over a million domain names registered on its rosters. The .com domain, undoubtedly is a clear winner with over a hundred million registers. .Co, however, is an emerging niche, which is doing quite well for itself.
Analysts are completely confident that Amazon will do something interesting with this deal.
