As reported earlier, Amazon India has today launched its very own popular streaming device, the Amazon Fire TV Stick. It has been announced at an introductory price of Rs 3,999 along with the remote. It will go on sale today. Amazon Prime members who buy Amazon Fire TV Stick will get Rs 499 as free Amazon Pay balance.
Amazon detailed that the users who will use the 30-day free trial for Prime will receive the Rs 499 credit when they purchase the annual Prime membership. The company has announced a number of exclusive plans for Amazon Fire TV Stick buyers that include 100 GB free data over 3 months for Airtel Broadband and 4G Home WiFi devices, 240 GB free data over 3 months for YOU Broadband users, free EROS NOW premium membership for 3 months and ad-free streaming on gaana.com for 6 months.
Amazon Fire TV Stick is a competitor to Google’s Chromecast, Roku and many other streaming devices. With Amazon Prime Video having entered India, it seems like the right time to launch the Amazon Fire line of products such as tablets, Fire TV Stick or even the Fire TV box. Amazon has added Bluetooth v4.1, Voice Remote along with Remote App for Fire, Android and iOS, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac as connectivity options. One thing to note here is that the stick comes with 8GB of internal storage. The Stick supports output in 720p and 1080p resolution at 60fps. The Fire TV Stick will be sold on Amazon India, Croma as well as Reliance Digital Stores in select Indian cities. The distribution will expand to other cities gradually.
