While Amazon had already been offering hefty discounts on its Kindle and Kindle Fire HD tablets in the country, the Kindle Paperwhite too is available at a discounted price. You can pick the Wi-Fi-only version of the e-reader up for Rs 9,999, a whole Rs 1,000 cheaper than its actual price.
As far as the 3G variant of the Paperwhite goes, you can grab the device for Rs 11,999. The price is down Rs 2,000 from Rs 13,999. The catch here, however, is that you will need to get onto Vodafone to avail of the discount on the 3G Kindle Paperwhite, since the feature works for free only on this particular carrier. The price drop on the Paperwhite is a limited period one and is only valid till December 25.
Discount till Christmas
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite e-reader comes with a black-and-white screen. It offers 25 percent more contrast, according to the company. CEO Jeff Bezos had earlier said: “The whites are whiter, and the blacks are blacker”. Bezos had even claimed that the device is “perfect in direct sunlight”. A quick look at the Kindle Paperwhite reveals that it comes with a 6-inch screen with a 212 ppi pixel density and an anti-glare coating under its display.
With the Paperwhite, you can carry up to 1,100 books, and comes with a storage capacity of 2GB. On the touch-based Kindle Paperwhite, Amazon has made six font styles and eight adjustable sizes available. The e-reader comes with a new Time to Read feature that uses your reading speed to tell you the time you'll take to finish your chapter. You can check out our review of the 3G Kindle Paperwhite.
Alongside this, you can also pick up the Kindle e-reader for Rs 5,000, or the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 16GB for Rs 18,000 and its 32GB variant for Rs 22,000. The Kindle range is also available at retail outlets like Croma, E-Zone, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales besides the Amazon.in website.
