Amazon has announced a long-term agreement with Tamil Nadu-based production company V Creations. According to the agreement, Amazon Prime Video will exclusively stream Tamil film industry’s two highest grossing movies, Kabali and Theri. The company has teamed up with Kalaipuli S Thanu, the producer and owner of V Creations to increase the digital reach of the movies. According to the company, both movies have earned over Rs 500 crores in combined box office collection.
“Kalaipuli S Thanu is one of the most successful producers in the Tamil film industry, and we are thrilled to partner with him. Southern cinema and star-driven Tamil films have emerged as among the most successful Indian content in the last decade, finding both national reach and viewers. A large number of Thanu’s films have been commercial blockbusters, of which two are among the top-ten highest grossing Tamil films of all time. We are certain that our Prime members will love the inclusion of these smashing titles in our selection within a few weeks from their theatrical release,” added Nitesh Kripalani, Director and Country Head, Prime Video India.

We are aware of this new way of consuming movie content and thus couldn’t be more happy to mark our presence on such sought after platforms.” Reports indicate that Amazon Prime Video will soon be available for existing Amazon Prime subscribers in India.
