AMD today introduced the AMD Radeon HD 6900 series of Graphic Cards to the entire world. It is AMD’s most advanced enthusiast GPU to date and brings a host of new features to the table. The HD6950 and the HD6970 are the ones that were released today, with the 6970 being AMD's fastest single-GPU solution, while the 6950 aims to bridge the gap between the HD5870 and the 6970.
The list of new additions include AMD PowerTune for automatically adjusting GPU power draw by dynamically controlling clock speeds, AMD Eyefinity for multi-display output and new image quality features such as Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA) and Enhanced Quality Anti-Aliasing (EQAA).
The 8th generation dual tessellation units – delivering up to 2.9 times the tessellation performance of the 5870 – and 2GB memory allow the HD 6900 series to help you enjoy amazing graphics even at extreme resolutions.
Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, GPU Division, AMD, “The AMD Radeon HD 6900 series graphics feature AMD’s second-generation, DirectX 11-capable architecture, new image quality improvements and up to 2GB of graphics frame buffer, making it a great choice for gamers and enthusiasts. Delivering DirectX 11 performance with intelligent tessellation, image quality improvements with new anti-aliasing modes and AMD PowerTune technology, we believe AMD Raedon HD 6900 series graphics cards will make excellent gifts this holiday season.”
Both the HD 6950 and 6970 will be available immediately with retailers and will cost $299 onwards.
