A tech site by the name of Donanimhaber has leaked out a AMD roadmap slide for future mobile GPUs. The roadmap states the launch of three mobile GPUs slated for the last quarter of this year and four other new GPUs set to launch in the second and last quarter of next year. The GPUs being launched in 2012 are codenamed Wimbledon, Heathrow, Chelsea and Thames. They are almost definitely going to be based on the Radeon 7000 line of GPUs.
Radeon HD7000 range in sight?
While the GPUs being launched this year are based on the 40nm fabrication process, the next generation will be based on the 28nm fabs. Chelsea and Thames are set to be mainstream GPUs and will have a TDP of upto 30W. The enthusiast class of GPUs – Wimbledon and Heathrow operate at above 35W and will be designed for gamers. There are no predictions being made on the kind of performance boosts that users can expect from the new line of products.
