When you buy an Android tablet, you get a regular homescreen that's filled with widgets and apps. You can somewhat customize your homescreen to provide you with easier access to the apps that you use most, however, Chameleon, an Android app that is currently in the process of seeking funding will allow you to customize even more. Chameleon says on its Kickstarter page, “Chameleon replaces the standard Android Home Screens and App Launcher with one that isn't just more useful, but more beautiful as well.” The app will let you set up multiple homescreens with your own personal layout of widgets and apps. The app also provides you with the information you want when you need it. The aim is to provide you with a homescreen that's relevant to you. Check out the video below for some more visuals on the app.
The Chameleon homescreens can be set up based on GPS locations, Wi-Fi networks and time ranges. The idea is that the app utilizes your info to devise your relevant homescreen. For instance, in the morning when you wake up, you can set the app to provide you with news, e-mail and weather information. Later in the day, you can allow the app to provide you with direct access to music and movies or even things you can do to go out. When you're at work, you can set the app to provide you with e-mail and task lists right on your homescreen. The app comes with widgets that include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Gmail, Google Drive, Clock, Calendar, Media Player, Weather and more. The app also gives you a customized App Tray to let you set the apps you use most often first in line, so you don't have to dig through other apps to get to the ones you want.
The app requires Android version 3.2 (Honeycomb) or up. It is only supported on Android tablets and works on displays of 1280 x 800 and up. It can be used in both, portrait and landscape orientation. Chameleon says that they have built the first prototypes of the product, but are looking for funding from interested users to fully develop and release the app. They, of course, intend to reward those that donate to their Kickstarter page with the app, T-shirts and more. They're looking to raise $50,000 (approx Rs. 2,720,999) to complete the application. When the app is ready, Chameleon is also looking for users to test their product. If you're interested, then there are multiple pledging options with varying rewards. Are you interested in a product like Chameleon for your Android device? Let us know in the comments section below.
