If you have Angry Birds installed on your device, then you may have been pleasantly surprised last night to receive an update notification to version 2.3.0. This update brings a new level pack of 15 levels of Bad Piggies to the original Angry Birds game.
As per the release notes of the game, Rovio entertainment states, “The Angry Birds are celebrating their second birthday, but the pigs are crashing the party and its up to you to save it”
In the ‘What's New’ section of the description, Rovio reveals, “The Bad Piggies don’t just have a new game — now they’ve taken over Angry Birds with 15 of the Piggest levels ever! Take a break with 15 stormy levels for Surf ‘n Turf! The Bad Piggies have taken over with 15 Pig-themed Angry Birds levels!”
It's the piggies' turn now to invade the original Angry Birds
One of the biggest names on the mobile gaming scene, Rovio Entertainment, released the latest game in the Angry Birds franchise, Bad Piggies a couple of weeks ago. The game, launched for iOS, Android, Mac, and PC, is a spin-off to the Angry Birds games, and is told from the pigs’ point of view.
“We’ve never done anything like this,” said Petri Järvilehto, EVP of Games. “Where Angry Birds was all about destruction, Bad Piggies is all about the joy of construction. It’s not just about getting three stars — in this game, failing is almost as much fun as succeeding!”
The game is set on Piggy Island, where the Bad Piggies are after the eggs again — but as usual, nothing is going according to the plan. They need help in creating the ultimate flying machine and steering it safely to their destination.
According to a statement by Rovia, with more than 60 levels, and free updates in the offing, the game takes you through hours of pig-crashing, exploding, and flying fun. Fans can unlock an additional 30 levels by getting three stars. Four sandbox levels let them stretch their creativity to the utmost. 33 objects are available to create the ultimate machine — if you can navigate around all the obstacles first!
This is the first time the Bad Piggies are protagonists of a game, but it’s just the beginning of a series of Bad Piggies-related games and other entertainment.
“We've had a lot of fun creating a totally new and unique gameplay experience,” said Petri Järvilehto during the announcement of the game. “There's so much more to these pigs than what is seen in the Angry Birds games, and Bad Piggies is the first glimpse into what's going on in the imaginative and ingenious minds of the pigs.”
The Angry Birds series has been undeniably successful. Starting with its debut on iOS devices and eventual ports into other platforms, the franchise has proved extremely popular. At one point, the Playstation 3 version of Angry Birds even became the best selling game on PSN. The company announced one billion downloads for Angry Birds in May. The download count, however, includes all platforms and all the Angry Birds games that Rovio has made, which are: Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Space, as well as the free, lite versions of the games.
