The past few months we have seen a bunch of speculations saying that Apple will launch a new third variant of the iPhone this year. Almost everyday we head something around the iPhone and today we are hearing that the third variant will be the iPhone 8 featuring a stainless steel frame and a glass front and back finish.
The tip comes from Taiwanese website DigiTimes, which is known to keep tabs on Apple’s supply chain.
The three smartphones are being referred as the iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and the iPhone 8 (or iPhone X). The three smartphone strategy has been confirmed in the past by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities and Japanese website Nikkei. However they believe that all three models will feature glass casing.
On the other hand, Japanese website Mac Otakara says that the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models will continue to have an aluminum design like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, with new internals including the addition of a new A11 chip. This lines up to what DigiTimes suggests.
Apple going with the same design as the last year’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus sounds legit as the company has done this in the past for older models. The company could possibly announce a new variant marking the smartphones tenth anniversary with high features including an OLED display and a close to $1000 price mark.
Of course we are just speculating over the leaks and rumours. Things could be entirely different if and when Apple decides to launch the new iPhones.
