This bit of information comes close on the heels of the unearthing of fake Apple stores – as many as five in China alone – some days ago. It came as an even bigger shock when it was revealed that the employees in these stores were strongly convinced of the fact that the store that they were working for was an original Apple store.
It is now being learnt that Apple has slapped charges of trademark infringement after it discovered that in the Chinatown section of Queens, New York, quite a few retail stores were found selling accessories for Apple products, including the cases. Apple Story Inc and Fun Zone Inc, the two stores claimed to be guilty by Apple now have a lawsuit filed against them at the Brooklyn Federal Court, late last month. Also included in the lawsuit’s receiving end are as much as 50 unrecognized businesses.
Late last month, Apple was given the permission by U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto, and subsequently approved its request for the restraining order.
