In an attempt to bring in more profits from the sale of the iPad and iPhone, Apple has been increasingly demanding that its suppliers slash their quotes by as much as 10 per cent for the second quarter of 2011. The suppliers for components like PCBs, optical components, battery modules and touch panels are now facing the heat of Apple’s pressurizing ways.

This decision comes at a time when the shipments of Apple’s tablet PC is poised to take a 70 per cent leap to reach the eight million figure in the second quarter of 2011. Now, Apple wants its component suppliers to consider the increase in the shipment, and bearing that in mind, slash the supply costs. Reports also suggest that Apple’s tablet PC shipments will continue its upward trend through the third quarter, and components suppliers can expect even sharper cuts following that.
