Asus today announced the launch of a slew of Windows 8 devices from the Asus Touch family, including a dockable tablet (Asus VivoTab RT TF600TG), lightweight notebooks (Asus VivoBooks F202E and S400), and the Asus Taichi dual-screen convertible Ultrabook/ tablet that can display two screens simultaneously.
“We intend to surpass the ‘touch future’ of IT industry by launching Asus Taichi and Asus VivoBook. We are assertive that our Windows 8 line-up will touch customers’ heart in terms of incredible product, incredible design, incredible quality and incredible service,” said Alex Huang, managing director, System Business Group, Asus India.
Speaking on the technology used in these devices, Unaez Quraishi, sales and distribution director, System Business Group, Asus India, said, “Today’s launch of Asus Taichi, Asus VivoBook F202E, Asus VivoBook S400 and Asus VivoTab RT TF600 TG is an alluring proof to substantiate our prime focus on the mastery of technological innovation and design perfection. In view of the launch of these models in India, we intend to establish how important India is for Asus. Our consumers have given affirmative responses to our notebooks, tablets and other products. We anticipate capturing the market as to when they think of touch notebooks and tablets, they think of Asus.”
The company, in its official statement, shares that Asus Taichi is a fusion of notebook and tablet for mobile flexibility. Lid open, Taichi is a notebook with a full HD screen, an Intel core processor, and a backlit keyboard. Lid closed, Taichi is a lightweight tablet with a tapered profile, and a multi-touch full HD screen for intuitive fingertip control with Windows 8.
The 13.3-inch, dual LED-backlit, Windows 8 Pro Ultrabook comes with TFT LCD display, full HD non-glare with touch function, Intel Core i7-3517M (1.9G, 4M), HD camera 5M, stylus pen, RAM of 4GB DDR3 1600, and storage 256GB SATA3 SSD. The keyboard is backlit, with ambient light control, and it has a large multi-touch touchpad. It has built-in motion sensors, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0.
Fusion of a notebook and a tablet
Mirror mode on the Asus Taichi shows the same image on both back-to-back screens, so could be used for making a presentation or displaying a movie, without the need for a bulky projector or clumsy external monitor. Each back-to-back screen can be used separately with different apps: one with the keyboard and multi-touch touchpad; the other with the multi-touch screen and stylus. Dual-screen mode is also good for presentations and the supplied Screen Share app lets the presenter see the script on one screen, while the audience views slides on the other. The Asus Taichi will be available in India at an MRP of Rs 139,999.
Asus VivoBook F202E comes with an 11.6-inch LED backlight HD screen (1366X768, Glare); 3.6mm panel, and a capacitive touch panel with multi-touch function. It has the latest Genuine Microsoft Windows 8 operating system with third generation Intel core i3- 3217U (1.8G, 3M) Intel Chief River processor. It weighs 1.3kg. It has a metallic chassis with aluminium hair-brush textures. It encompasses USB 3.0, which is 10 times faster than USB 2.0; multi gesture and larger click pad (104mm x 60.5mm), dual speakers of capacity 2W each, powered by Asus-exclusive Sonic Master Technology and an HD camera (720p). As per the official statement, its battery life is up to 5 hours.

It has DDR3, 4GB memory on board, 500GB HDD, WLAN 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth4.0, and HD Codec audio along with Sonic Master Technology. The Asus VivoBook F202E will be available in India at an MRP of Rs 39,999.
Asus VivoBook S400 comes with a 14-inch LED backlight HD screen, a capacitive touch panel with multi-touch function. It has the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system along with third generation Intel Core i7-3517U (1.9G, 4M) processor. It has DDR3, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, WLAN 802.11b/g/n, and Bluetooth4.0. Asus VivoBook comes with an HD camera. The Asus VivoBook S400 will be available in India at an MRP of Rs 59,999.
The Vivo Tab RT has the Transformer design, and is supplied with its own mobile dock that provides a qwerty keyboard, trackpad, USB port, and built-in battery. It has a 10.1-inch HD Glare screen with capacitive touch and multi-touch, Nvidia Tegra3 GPU, 2GB DDR3 RAM, and storage of 64GB EMMC. It also encompasses WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 2MP front webcam and 8MP back camera with flash, two-cell battery, and Windows 8 RT operating system. It comes with a docking station, and supports 3G and GPS. The Asus VivoTab RT TF600 TG will be available in India at an MRP of Rs 61,999.
