Bethesda has been on a roll with Skyrim recently, with the release of Dawnguard and Hearthfire. Now, the company is set to release a new DLC (downloadable content) for the game. The company has teased the DLC on its Twitter page, along with an image. The image shows what can be assumed to be the main protagonist of Skyrim – the Dovhakiin, wearing some new kind of armour that has birds detailed on the shoulder pads. The helmet of the new armour evokes Lovecraftian stories with its tentacle motif, much like how the dark god Cthulhu is described. Along with the image, Bethesda has also mentioned a trailer that will be releasing later today.

This DLC could be the return to the lands of Morrowind from the third Elder Scrolls games. The return to Morrowind has been heavily hinted in files added to the game after a recent update. There are files named 'DLC2' and 'Dragonborn', which were added in the most recent update to the open world game. These files hint towards the possibility of being able to ride dragons in the next DLC, as there are animation files for riding dragons. Along with this, some other file names hint towards one of the most well-loved areas in the Elder Scroll series – Morrowind.

Morrowind was originally the setting for the third game of the series – The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and is the home of the dark elves, aka, Dunmer. Quest markers for areas in Morrowind such as Solstheim, Telvanni Castle, Karstaag, Raven Rock and Miraak Temple have been discovered in Skyrim’s files.

Back in August, Bethesda had released the latest DLC for Skyrim on the PC, titled Hearthfire. The DLC is available on Steam for $4.99 (around Rs 260). While the PC version is now up to date with all the DLC released for Skyrim so far, there is still no word on the DLCs for the PlayStaion 3 version of the game.

The Hearthfire DLC allows you to purchase land, and build your own house from the ground up – from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armoury, alchemy laboratory, stable, garden and more. The DLC introduces new tools such as a drafting table and a carpenter’s workbench to transform stone, clay and logs into structures and furnishings. The new DLC also allows you to adopt children.

Skyrim puts players in control of the Dovhakiin, which is dragon tongue for Dragonborn, in the icy Viking-inspired region of Skyrim. The series is very well known for its open world that lets players roam around and do whatever they want, from exploring treacherous caverns to finding treasure, or picking flowers and making potions.

In June, Bethesda had released the first DLC for the game, named Dawnguard, which revolves around an ancient prophecy. The prophecy tells of the eternal obfuscation of the sun because of a magic ritual. Players are caught in the middle of a war between a cult of vampires and the Dawnguard, who are a group of vampire hunters. The DLC was released only for the Xbox 360 due to a 30-day exclusivity contract between Microsoft and Bethesda.
