BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins has confirmed to the company’s investors that BlackBerry will launch at least one new device on the BB7 platform. BB7 is the older BlackBerry platform which was launched by the company in August 2011.

Thorsten Heins’ statement comes just after leaks of BB7 device named BlackBerry 9720. The photos of the device which is believed to be named BB 9720 were leaked on a Thai website, Thaibbclub.

According to the leaks the smartphone seems to support 3G, has a camera and flash LED, and a Curve keypad with shortcuts. The report adds the device seems to have an internal memory of only 105.8 MB.

While the release date for a new BB 7 device remains unknown, BlackBerry fans in India could soon get their hands on the BlackBerry Q5.

According to BizTech2 editor Ivor Soans, who wrote on Firstpost, the company is all set to launch the Q5 in India on 16 July and the price for the device is likely to be around Rs 25,000. The price of the budget-range Q5 might be disappointing to some BlackBerry users who were hoping to switch from BB 7 platform to the new BB 10 OS as it is still in the 25k and above range.
