While we are just 4 months into 2017, Samsung and LG have already announced their smartphone flagships for the year, those that will go on sale shortly. Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC after recently announcing its HTC U Ultra is now gearing up to announce another flagship smartphone, that has been tagged as the HTC U. And after several rumours, HTC has finally teased the smartphone, and not the just revealed its launch date, but an important new feature as well.

HTC put out a teaser on twitter with a video showing what would be the upcoming HTC U flagship. The video also demoes the new edge sensor feature that will act accordingly when users squeeze, swipe or tap on the metal edges of the smartphone.

As per previous leaks, the sensors are based on the top half of the frame that surrounds the display. The touch-sensitive frame will basically allow users to adjust volume or open apps, depending on the pressure or the gesture. In short, this could be the world’s first smartphone without any buttons.

Coming to the specifications, the dual SIM HTC U is expected to pack in the latest hardware available. This would include a 5.5-inch QHD display with Gorilla Glass 5, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 4GB/6GB RAM with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone is expected to focus on the selfie as well, with a 16MP camera up front and 12MP sensor on the back. A 3,000mAh battery is expected to complete the package and it should also charge quickly thanks to the presence of Quick Charge 3.0. Additionally, HTC fans can also expect the HTC’s USonic audio experience using its custom earphones.
