Movie-on-demand service Bigflix has announced today that it has collaborated with Nokia to launch the Bigflix Windows Phone 8 app for the current crop of Nokia Lumia smartphones, which include the Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720. Curiously, the collaboration leaves the Lumia 820 and the 920 out of the deal.
As part of the collaboration, anyone who buys one of these phones will get an exclusive three-month subscription to Bigflix's services, which give consumers access to a catalogue of more than 1,500 movies in more than six Indian languages. The subscription applies to tablets, desktops and laptops as well.
Commenting on the association between Bigflix and Nokia, Business Head of Bigflix Shreyash Sigtia said, “It brings us immense pleasure to associate with Nokia, India’s leading mobile brand for its newly launched Lumia 520, 620 and 720 Windows 8 smart-phones in a bid to augment our reach amongst the large user-base of Nokia thereby offering the experience of movie entertainment at one’s convenience of time and space. Nokia had launched the Lumia 520 and the 720 back in March. Both handsets are set at a mid-range price point, and the Nokia Lumia 520 is by far the most affordable Windows Phone 8 handset yet. Announced at a price of Rs 10,499, the Lumia 520 should immediately get the attention of users looking for a complete smartphone experience without exchanging big bucks for it. The Lumia 720 on the other hand costs Rs 18,999.
Nokia boasts that the Lumia 520 can deliver features such as the same digital camera lens found on the company’s flagship device, the Lumia 920, Nokia Music for free music out of the box and also on offline mode, and the HERE location suite. It sports a four-inch touchscreen display.
