Byond Tech has introduced a new range of tablet PCs in the Indian market named the Mi book series. Bollywood actor Zarine Khan launched the range. A smartphone, B-50 was also launched by Manish Jain, Director, Byond Tech at the event.

Electronics said, “We have brought to India, the biggest range of tablets, under one brand, with 10 versions of “MI Book” as we call it, with retail range starting from 4,300 to 11,000 all MI Books come with 3D Screens. The product our research team was most excited about was the “Laplet”, which would prove to be the biggest gift for the consumers in this Navratra Season”.

According to Subhash Mutha, Chairman of Byond Tech Electronics, “For tablets and smart phones, we have invested around 10 million USD and the investment is likely to get doubled within a year. With last 3.5 years of experience in telecom business, we are planning to be a aggressive player in Android phones and Tablet PC segment”.

The Mi book series of tablets will comprise of tablets with a 7-inch screen, tablets with the option card, tablets with 9-inch screens, tablets with 10-inch screens, and a ‘Laplet’ series that will be consist of a tablet along with a portable attached keyboard. Some of the key features of the Mi book series of tablets include Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), capability for 3D gaming and high-definition video, kinetic scrolling touchpad, 5-point multi-touch screen, and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
The cost of the Mi book tablets will begin from Rs 4,300, and will go up to Rs 11,000. Going by the price range, Byond is aiming for the low-end tablet market, and will be competing with the likes of Micromax with its FunTab series and Zync.
Earlier this month, Zync had released its own budget tablet that runs on Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean) – the Z930. The tablet is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor with a Mali 400 GPU. It also offers in-built 3G support via dongles. It is fuelled by a 3,600mAh Lithium-Ion battery. Z930 comes loaded with 512MB of RAM, and weighs 340 grams. The other features include a standard USB port, a Micro USB port, a 3.5mm earphone jack, a microSD TF slot along with HDMI support. The tablet also boasts of features such as a G-Sensor that allows for motion sensor based games.
