Although it is known to be one of India’s first Android based tablets, the OlivePad didn’t really do too well in our markets. Maybe this was a branding issue, as they aren’t really in the big league with players like Apple and ViewSonic. But failure never kept anyone from trying again.

Try and try until you succeed, Olive

If you’re up to date with what’s happening with Olive, you will also know that they’re planning to launch an Android based phone. Sources say that this phone will go straight up against the Samsung Galaxy S. Seriously; what now? The Galaxy S has been one of the most popular Android phones this year, and it’s definitely going to be a tough one to beat by any standards. I’d love it if Olive could actually accomplish this gargantuan feat, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

To beat the Galaxy S, the new phone by Olive has to be something extra special. The Samsung Galaxy S even emerged a winner in our 2010 GOTY award giveaway for high-end smartphones. So, what will Olive’s new phone have to offer us that the Galaxy S doesn’t have? For starters, if it’s super thin, maybe they could christen it the Olive Oyl. No?
