LG’s MID, the GW990 is the first device to be running Intel's future Moorestown CPU making a big deal at this year’s CES event. It will be powered by Moblin which is an open source Mobile Linux platform.

The GW900 will feature –
– a 4.8-inch widescreen display
– Wi-Fi, HSPA
– aGPS with a digital compass
– 5 megapixel camera
– HD Video playback
– 3D gaming

According to reports the GW990 also features a three panel viewing system in landscape mode to optimize the large display. It will also possibly come with a built-in microphone that could be used for voice recording or VOIP calling. That has yet to be confirmed.

LG also unveiled their Android powered handset called the GT540 at their CES booth this year. This is the third handset that the company has revealed to sport the Android platform and is primarily aimed at those who are on the social networking kick. An SNS manager has been designed to allow users to always stay connected with their favourite sites like Facebook and Twitter. Of course the Android OS is one of the more conducive mobile operating systems at the moment that quite tightly integrates social networking into the OS.

Very little is known about the device’s specs just yet but it will feature –
– a touchscreen display sporting a 240 x 400 pixel resolution
– 3G, EDGE/GPRS connectivity
– 3-megapixel AF camera
– DivX video playback
– microSD card support (up to 32GB)

The GT540 that’s due for a global launch in April will be available in four color variations. There’s no price mentioned yet.
