Samsung has unveiled a slew of new point-and-shoot cameras at CES 2013 showing that the company is still betting on compact cameras for its imaging needs. The Smart Camera environment too has received a push to Smart Camera 2.0
Wi-Fi connectivity is the key feature in all of the new Smart Camera releases. WB250F/WB200F, WB800F, WB30F, DV150F and ST150F will all sport the Smart Camera 2.0 ecosystem, adding improved AutoShare functionality that will aid in quick uploading and backing up of images. The app will help in bridging the gap between smartphones and smart cameras as far as sharing is concerned.
There are three cameras without Wi-Fi support – the WB2100, ST72 and ES95. Cameras like ST72 and ST150F will have an all important feature called LivePanorama that will allow users to shoot panoramic images in a simple way.
The Samsung WB250F Smart Camera
WB250F, a long-zoom shooter with a 14.2 megapixel BSI CMOS (WB250F) or CCD (WB200F) sensor as well as a fabulous 24mm lens is all set to be the flagship device for Samsung Smart Cameras. It will have a hybrid touch interface consisting of touch LCD screen and five-way navigational keys, allowing users to manipulate controls to their preference. The WB800F is a classic long-zoom camera with 21x optical zoom and a 16.3 Megapixel BSI CMOS sensor for excellent low-light photography. This camera too will have a hybrid user interface that allows photographers the choice of controlling the camera via the touchscreen or a five way manual key. The WB800F will be available in white, cobalt black and red.
The WB30F is the new ‘mini model’ of this new range, with the capabilities of a WB model including 10x optical zoom and 24mm, wide angle lens—is compact at 17mm thickness. Features like Magic Frame and Live Panorama are packed into this model. The WB30F will be available in black, white, red, purple and pink.
The ST150F comes with an F2.5 Bright Lens, 5x optical zoom and 25mm lens coupled with a 16.2 Megapixel CCD sensor that will help deliver sharp images. This camera will cater to amateur photographers and will be available in four colours.
The DV150F will interestingly come with a 1.48” Front LCD in order to make taking self portraits easier. The camera packs a 16.2 Megapixel CCD sensor, F2.5 25 mm bright lens and 5x optical zoom. The DV150F is housed in a stylish aluminium body and is available in five different colours including plum, lime green and light pink.
