Yesterday, we caught a glimpse of Samsung's upcoming tablet announcment at the ongoing CES 2014 trade show. Eager Samsung fans needn’t wait for long though, as some (if not all) of their upcoming announcements are already live on SamsungCES.com, hours before the keynote even begins. Among the list of devices, are the Galaxy Note Pro and Tab Pro 12.2 tablets. Both new series will be available starting from Q1, 2014.
Let’s start with the Galaxy Note Pro and Tab Pro 12.2. The former is pretty much identical to the recently launched Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, except that it now has a larger screen, a slightly bigger battery and some new software tweaks. The Note Pro 12.2 and Tab Pro 12.2 are identical is almost every respect with the only real difference being the inclusion of S Pen with the former. The Tab Pro will also be available in smaller sizes of 10.1-inch and 8.4-inch variants. All of them will run on Android 4.4 KitKat and will have an updated version of their Multi Window feature. Unlike before, you’ll now be able to split the screen into four different windows and presumably, drag and drop content from one app to the other. We’re guessing this will only be applicable to tablets due to the larger screen real estate and some of their existing tablets should also be getting an OTA update for the same.
Looks identical to the existing Note 10.1 2014 Edition
The Note Pro and Tab Pro will come pre-loaded with Cisco WebEx Meetings platform which finally lets Android users to share anything on their screen as well as start a WebEx meeting. You’ll also get Samsung e-Meeting with collaboration functions for sharing content during a meeting without the need to access a central server or network. The tablets will also feature region specific content bundled along such as Bitcasa, Bloomberg, Businesweek+, Blurb, Dropbox, Easilydo Pro, Evernote, Hancom Office for Android, LinkedIn, NY Timee, Oxford Advanced Learner’s A-Z and Sketchbook Pro.
Definitely the most interesting tablet of the bunch
All tablets will come with various connectivity options so you can choose between Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi and 3G or Wi-Fi and LTE, depending on how much you want to spend and your needs. As always, there are a bunch of accessories for the tablets too ranging from a USB LAN hub to a Bluetooth keyboard.
Specifications are similar across tablets
All the tablets have identical specifications apart from slight variations in battery size. The most interesting one out of the lot however is the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, which retains the same WQXGA resolution of 2560 x 1600, giving it a whopping 360ppi. That’s a lot more than even the new Apple iPad mini with Retina. Samsung has a real good shot with their Tab Pro 8.4 if they price it competitively as it's definitely the most interesting tablet out of the lot and we feel, is something to keep an eye out for.
