CNN plans to make reading and watching news a dynamic experience with their new app for the iPad. The app lets you read news and also features images and videos. There is also a major update to the app in the pipeline, upon the release of which you'll be able to view live breaking-news video.
The app combines images with your rather plain news stories and blog posts; you can check out the photo gallery and also view on-demand or live videos. You also get to post comments on any news story or video that you like through the comments section that features next to the story. The app has an option of sharing stories, images and videos via Email, Facebook and Twitter.
The app has three viewing options: Broadsheet, List View and Slide Show. The broadsheet, which is the default view, lays out different news stories in a grid format that has a combination of headlines and images. Users can read a story by selecting the option from any of the headlines or from a variety of topics. The List View is a running list of headlines categorized by topics and the Slide Show allows a user to swipe through a visual presentation of the day’s top headlines.
The app features Push Notification so that the news you receive is updated in real-time. Finally, the app is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad from the app store and is absolutely free.
