The BlackBerry outage affecting scores of its users, has entered its third day, and if reports coming in are to be believed then the irate users now know who to blame for causing them grief. According to a report in the Hindu Business Line, the BlackBerry network suffered a core switch failure, which hit the BlackBerry services in India, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Brazil, Chile and Argentina, since Monday. The outage meant that several BlackBerry users who rely heavily on the smartphone's popular messaging services (BlackBerry Messenger) and the e-mail services were left high and dry. 

Bit of a glitch

Core Switch failure caused it all..

RIM, the makers of the smartphone had assured to fix the glitch, as soon as possible, which they did. But, the glitches managed to re-appear once again, on Tuesday, much to the chagrin of the users. The report further quoted RIM as saying that the core switch, the failure of which caused the widespread leak failed to move to its back-up switch. Resulting in which, a large backlog of data got accumulated. It is being learnt that RIM is working towards clearing this backlog.
