After having recently released the hardware requirements to run Crysis 3 on computers, Crytek has now announced the release date for the game. Players can explore the forest-infested New York in the Nanodome from February 22.
Recently, Crytek had released the Seven Wonders of Crysis 3 Teaser, where the developers explained their aim when it comes to the development. The trailer also shows the seven main zones that the game's world is divided into. According to the developers, they tried to make the game into something like an animated movie when it comes to the cinematics.
Making things go boom solves everything
The company had released the hardware requirements for the PC version of Crysis 3 earlier this month. Looking at the requirements, it's clear that the new game engine, dubbed CryENGINE 3, is looking to push the boundaries of visual fidelity. Running the game on the highest settings will need a very beefy computer.
Here are the minimum requirements to get the game running on a PC:
- Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
- DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB Video RAM
- Dual core CPU
- 2GB Memory (3GB on Vista)
- Nvidia GTS 450 with an Intel Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz (E6600)
- AMD Radeon HD5770 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.7Ghz (5200+)
The minimum hardware configuration required to run the game with all the settings cranked up to the highest is given below:
- 8GB Memory
- Nvidia GTX 680 with an Intel Core i7-2600k
- AMD Radeon HD7970 with AMD Bulldozer FX4150
Back in November, Crytek had released a trailer with new screenshots that showed some of the gameplay of Crysis 3. The trailer shows some action with the new bow weapon along with some new changes to the gameplay from the previous games. The biggest change is that sprinting no longer eats up the nanosuit's energy, and has its own cooldown timer to prevent you from running for an infinite amount of time. Sprinting while cloaked still eats up the suit's energy fast though. CryTek has also pointed out that the video is still alpha gameplay footage, but judging by the video, the game doesn't seem very far from a full release.
It was revealed in early November that pre-ordering Crysis 3 on EA's Origin service will get you a free copy of the original Crysis. Crysis 3 will be available in February 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
The Crysis 3 Hunter Edition gives players tools to become the ultimate hunter in multiplayer with instant access to the new signature Predator bow and its attachments plus the Hunter Nanosuit module that adds additional power and functionality to the super-suit. Owners of the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition will also have a headstart when playing online with a bonus XP boost up to level 5, a unique Predator bow skin and three exclusive dog tags to hunt in style. The Crysis 3 Hunter Edition is available on Origin.com and other participating retailers for $59.99 (approximately Rs 3,216).
