Call of Duty: Black Ops may have broken sales records all over the world but it’s certainly not the crowd favorite in Cuba. That may have something to do with the fact that players have to assassinate Fidel Castro in the very first mission.
This obviously has caused an outbreak in Cuba and Cuban government run website, Cubadebate declared the game as a propaganda tool. Here’s what they had to say on the matter, “The logic of this new game is doubly perverse. First, it glorifies the attacks illegally planned by the United States government against the Cuban leader. On the other hand, it encourages sociopathic attitudes of American children and adolescents, the main consumers of these virtual games.”
The article then proceeds to slam violence in other video games such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and The Warriors (stuck in a time warp?). While the journalist proceeds to make a valid agreement with the whole assassination of Castro bit, the part about violent games creating 'psychopathic kids' is highly redundant.
