DOTA AK Defense of the Ancients is to Warcraft III what Counter-Strike was to Half-Life – an insanely successful multiplayer mod played the world over. And now at Gamescom 2011, Valve’s all set to unveil the sequel with a bang. This bang I talk about is Valve hosting a tournament called The International where 16 of the best DOTA teams around the world will compete in the world’s very first DOTA 2 tournament. The winner will walk away with a cool $1 million in cash. And they say gaming is for kids.
Coming soon to Gamescom
DOTA 2 will be built using Valve’s Source engine, the very same engine that’s been powering their games since Half-Life 2. It will not feature a single player campaign but will come with bot support to help train those new to the game. For more on DOTA 2, head on over to the game’s official blog.
Thanks to Gamespot for the heads up.
