Joining the list of discontinued features on Google is the ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ button whose existence can be attributed to be as long as that of the search giant itself.
Not Lucky any more?
According to those familiar with the cause of the existence of this button; although there aren’t many users of the button, today, it was brought out to lend more superior search results, better than most other search engines. This thought was replicated in Stephen Levy’s ‘In the Plex’, wherein he equated the ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ button with Google’s confidence on the superiority of its results.
This thought, however, doesn’t seem to have seeped into the psyche of the audiences, and has now led to the eventual discontinuation of the button.
