Epson has introduced its next generation of 3D projectors in India. Two new 3D projectors have been launched – the EH TW 6100 and the EH TW 8100, each with its own set of market-leading capabilities and features that are engineered to fulfill the needs of the home user.

The company shares in a statment that the revamped 3D home theatre range offers consumers an ideal choice whatever their needs or budgets may be. The Epson EH-TW6100 and EH-TW8100 replace the older Epson EH-TW6000 and EH-TW8000 respectively. Both are full HD 1080P capable and feature Epson's unique 480 hertz frame refresh rate that is twice as fast other 3D projectors; it helps minimise the “blackout time” between 3D images.

These Epson projectors are designed for user convenience and compliance with industry standards. Unlike “3D Ready” projectors used by Blu-Ray players or 3D TV broadcasts, which require a separate format converter to play content in 3D formats, these projectors will support all 3D formats without the need for any additional hardware.In addition, Epson’s new active 3D models use radio frequency based 3D glasses that comply with the new “Full HD 3D Glasses” industry standard. The EH-TW6100 is priced at Rs 1,30,099, while the EH-TW8100 comes with a price tag of Rs 1,70,099.

Epson recently developed a new high-temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT colour panel for electronic viewfinders used in mid to high-end digital interchangeable lens system cameras. Epson's latest Ultimicron panel offers the resolution and fidelity needed to focus the image while providing the ability to recreate smooth gradations and a natural softness. In addition, the use of a colour filter prevents the colour break-up that tends to occur with other colour systems when shooting fast-moving subjects and while panning.

We also recently reviewed the Epson Moverio BT-100, the company's attempts at tapping into the wearable display market. Unlike most head-mounted displays that allow you to connect it to a source, usually through an HDMI connector, Epson has decided to take the Android player route, making it the first of its kind. This makes it more of a portable solution compared to the other units in the market. 

While it may seem expensive at Rs 42,900 and no doubt it is, there’s simply nothing quite like it in the market right now. You’ll find cheaper, Chinese alternatives online, but they obviously lack the high resolution screen, not to mention the possibility of it falling apart within weeks. The BT-100 does an excellent job of giving you a personalised theatre experience wherever you are, and the best part is it runs Android. It has really good sound, the projected picture quality is really good, there's Wi-Fi for streaming content, the headset is see through so you can move around while watching and it supports 3D videos as well. On the flipside, this first iteration is still a bit bulky and not very comfortable to wear for long stretches. Battery life could have been better as well.
