Popular note-taking service Evernote has upped its usefulness quotient with the introduction of Reminders, which claims to keep users on track at each step. This new feature adds three most-requested features rolled into one:
- In-app and email alarms
- Quick note based to-do lists
- Pinning notes to the top of your note list
Currently available on Evernote for Mac, iOS and Evernote Web, Evernote Reminders can be added to a note by tapping on the alarm clock icon at the top of the note on Mac, web, and at the bottom of the note on iPhone and iPad. Users can even set a date and time for when they wish this note must be completed. When a reminder is due, the user will get an in-app alarm and, if they pick, an email on that day. Upon setting the reminder, users will be able to spot the note title in the Reminder section at the top of the note list. The order of the reminders can be shuffled too, by dragging them around. Once a task is done, users can tap on the check or iOS users can swipe to delete the reminder from the list. Evernote Reminders syncs across all versions of the app that support the new feature.
Reminders are notebook-based to organise them better. So, whenever a reminder is added to a note, it appears in the Reminder section within that notebook. However, if they wish to view all of them in a single place, they can opt for All Notes View.
Thanks to the placement of Reminders, Evernote says these can be used to highlight the most important notes in that notebook. Also, those who can access the user's notebook can subscribe to be notified each time the notes are due.
Reminders, complete with all these features ,are also available for Evernote Business users.
