Just a month before the release of Far Cry 3, Ubisoft has released the entire map of the game redesigned for popular sandbox indie game Minecraft. The map comes with new weapons and modifications that let you experience a very blocky version of Far Cry 3, along with the ability to build and destroy things on the map. The map pack also comes with all the important characters from the game as NPCs (non player characters), such as Vaas, Jason and Citra. According to Ubisoft, the map also features more than 50 easter eggs hidden throughout the islands.

The creator of the map is Michael Lambert (Scar3, creator of Newcraft City), a well known Minecraft enthusiast, and artist Axel Janssen and Yohann Delcourt who were responsible for the retexturing of many of the blocks that went into the making of the map. You can download and play through the map on Ubisoft’s website, but it requires you to have Minecraft installed.

Earlier this month, Ubisoft had released a trailer for Far Cry 3 that showed some of the more friendly characters of the game. The trailer shows the characters Dennis and Citra, who belong to a tribe based in the tropical island that the game takes place in. Dennis has some words of wisdom for the characters about the denizens of the island, and Citra is set to unleash the characters ‘true power’. What this means in the context of what looks like a semi-realistic game is not clear at the moment, but it seem like it involves tying you up and making you drink something that will probably get you inebriated.

Last month, Ubisoft had released a similar trailer for the characters Buck and Vaas. The trailer, titled the Savages trailer, shows us some characters that seem pretty psychopathic and out after the character’s life.

Buck’s story begins in Australia, where he joins the armed forces at an early age. His commanders quickly discover his perverse addiction to inflicting pain, and dismiss him. He falls into mercenary work, leading to a contract with Hoyt Volker, the South Pacific’s most notorious drug-runner and slave trader. Hoyt realises that Buck’s ferocious combat skills and unrelenting brutality could be of use. From then on, Buck answers to none else. When Hoyt needs a kill, Buck gets the call.

Vaas, on the other hand, is an unpredictable, psychotic, violent, merciless, coked-up pirate warlord and slave trader who kills purely for entertainment. No one is safe when Vaas is around. Not his friends, and certainly not his enemies.

Far Cry 3 is set to be an open-world game, but forgoes the African setting of its predecessor for a more tropical island setting, much like the first game in the series. The game also seems to have a very open way to deal with things, but then again, that simply means that you get an option to either blow up enemies loudly, or kill them quietly.

Back in September, the company had revealed that it has no plans for a Wii U version of Far Cry 3. This came as a strange decision, as one of the strongest titles for the Wii U is another game by Ubisoft, titled ZombiU.
