Mozilla has recently updated the beta version of Firefox for Android that refreshes the look and helps blend in better with the OS itself, among other improvements. The new re-designed interface has also given it some nifty performance improvements, Flash support, etc. “Firefox for Android Beta has all of the features you know and love like Firefox Sync, add-ons and tabbed browsing, plus a new Awesome Screen and enhancements to startup and response time, graphics performance and panning and zooming,” said Mozilla in their blog post. This beta uses hardware acceleration as well, to improve performance with web-apps, games or photos.
Firefox Beta now updated!
New features and improvements include faster start-up and page load times. The UI has undergone a complete overhaul making it blend a lot better with the latest version of Android. The start page has also been changed and it now shows you the top sites. Flash is now supported out-of-the-box. Extra plugins that come with the browser are only loaded when needed. Also improved is the panning and zooming for better response. Things that have be rearranged are the Top Sites, Bookmarks and History, which are now easily accessible. Some lingering issues from the previous build have been fixed – eg. blinking characters in fields and reloading a page would increase the zoom levels, etc. If you’re tired of using the stock browser and want a change then we say give this a try. We just hope it doesn’t get bogged down after some time like the desktop version does. Since it’s open source, there will be constant changes and updates so hopefully it gets better soon.
