The Samsung Galaxy S4 has been much praised for the combination of high-end hardware and feature-rich software experience. However, the one area that many fans and smartphone watchers were hoping Samsung would change was the plastic build of its previous flagships. Of course, Samsung decided to go with a plastic build once again, making fans, and even competitors like HTC, cringe about the design.
Looks like Samsung has heard the fans and will likely build their next-gen Galaxy Note using aluminium or a similar material, instead of plastic. SamMobile reports that Samsung is a bit worried by the success of the HTC One and in particular, with the rave reviews the Taiwanese phone maker’s flagship has received with regards to the design and build quality.

The HTC One is built using aluminium and its unibody design is a delight to hold. Samsung wants to respond with a switch to a more durable material for the Galaxy Note 3. It will also be a different design in comparison to the S4, a change from the usual for the Korean electronics giant.
While the source didn't point out which exact material will be used for the Galaxy Note 3's body, he did point out that the during the pre-production stage in the Galaxy S4's planning, a metal body was being considered. However, Samsung decided not to go ahead with it to ensure smoother mass production. However, the company hopes to ship fewer Galaxy Note 3s in comparison to their S4 sales estimates and for this the metal design could become viable.
Other specifications of the Galaxy Note 3 were also revealed by the source. According to the information, the Note 3 will have a 6-inch full HD AMOLED display along with all the TouchWiz features from the Galaxy S4. Interestingly, the source points out that the phablet will have even more Samsung-developed features than the S4. It will also share the S4’s Exynos 5 Octa CPU and LTE chip. Looks like Samsung will include the same or a similar 13-megapixel camera on the back. The source also claims that the Note 3 will be running the latest version of Android, which could very well be Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
Earlier today, we heard about the S Orb feature for the Note 3, which will be bringing a totally new panorama shooting experience for smartphones. Let's hope Samsung gets the design and build materials for the Note 3 right this time.
