All you football enthusiasts out there, it wouldn’t take long for you to recollect the round of 16 match of Germany and England in the World Cup last year, wherein a goal by England wasn’t taken into consideration. The technology, rather the lack of it, made the referees incapable of making the right decision.
The deciding factor
Such follies may soon become a thing of the past, as FIFA has given a nod to the usage of technology to assist referees in making decisions as tricky as these. According to FIFA President, Sepp Blatter seemed hopeful about the implementation of goal line technology that can help the referees decide whether a ball has cross the line or not before the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. This will be done by fitting in a chip into the ball, or video evidence.
