If you often find yourself running between PCs and relatives, trying to fix and get the experience of Google+ Hangouts running for them, here's a little something to make it easier.
Google's Daniel Caifa has confirmed in an official blog post that they have introduced a new Hangouts app called Hangouts Remote desktop to allow users to help others by controlling their computer remotely – with their permission, of course. Why this works, Caifa says, is that since the two parties are also on a Hangout, they can talk and see each other during the session. (Interesting!)
There's help at hand!
This way, if someone is in need of assistance in the midst of a Hangout session, they can seek it immediately. The one seeking assistance can completely decide to allow a particular user to remotely control their computer, or not. As shown in the images below, if a user wishes to help someone, then he can “offer” to do so, and it will appear on the screen of the other user – leaving it completely up to them to accept your help or not.
The Hangouts Remote Desktop app is powered by the same technology that's behind Chrome Remote Desktop.
