Google’s new version of the Nexus 7 will come with some serious updates if notedanalystMing-Chi Kuo is to be believed. According to AppleInsider,Kuo has said in a note that Google’s new Nexus 7 will have an upgraded processor, a better camera and a higher-screen resolution.
Some of the changes mentioned include: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 1,980-by-1,200 pixel screen resolution and a 5-megapixel rear facing camera. The device could also support Wireless charging, Kuo states. However the price of the device is likely to remain at $199 and according to Kuo,Google is likely to lose $5 to $10 per unit sold with the aggressive pricing.
Previously Reuters had reportedthatGoogle’s new version of its Nexus 7 tablet would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and the device could launch by July. The report also said that the Nexus 7 will have a thinner bezel design. The current version of the Nexus 7 has Nvidia Corps Tegra 3 quad-core processor.
The Nexus 7 is likely to be launched during Google’s I/O conference which starts on 15 May.
For the Nexus 7, the biggest challenger is currently the iPad mini. The Nexus 7 does have an advantage in terms of a faster processor, and a sharper screen as compared to the iPad mini but Apple is likely to ramp up features of the iPad mini in the next version of the device which could be out in July as well.
Nexus 7 could also face a new competitor with Microsoft getting ready to launch a 7-inch version of its not so-successful tablet, the Surface.
