Google Maps just got updated to version 5.4.0 from the earlier 5.3.1, and introduced a few features that were much needed for the app.
New and improved
If you’re a Google Maps user, you can now:
- View your Google Maps searches in Google Web History for your account.
- See additional business details for each search result on the map
- Report “destination not here” in Navigation (Beta)
The first one is a pretty interesting feature because saving search history on the cloud will enable you to quickly efficiently search for something you’ve already found before, on a completely different device. Additional business details can now be stored for places which, in the case of restaurants for example, will include stuff like cuisine and parking space. Reporting errors in Google Navigation when it directs you to the wrong place will help refine the feature and reduce errors, so helping out as unofficial bug testers doesn’t sound too bad.
The update is now live on the Android market and you can get it from here, or by directly updating via your phone or tablet.
