Last week, Google+ launched their version of Pages for brands, bands and businesses, getting them to come aboard and promote themselves on the social network. Google said in a blog post that they've been pretty impressed with the response that Pages has received from companies and are taking the relationship to the next level. They've given six companies the API to Google+, so that Pages on Google+ can be managed by third party programs like HootSuite. Google's been known for being a little protective of their API for Google+. They released only a part of their API to developers back in September.
Six companies can manage your Pages
The six companies that Google's opened its API to for Page management are HootSuite (as mentioned earlier), Buddy Media, Context Optional, Hearsay Social, Involver and Vitrue. These companies will enable users via their programs to manage their Google+ Circles, publish content to the social network as well as monitor usage. These specific companies were chosen because of “their extensive experience helping brands and businesses manage and analyze their presence on social networks” said Sara McKinley, Product Manager, Google+ Pages.
