Viewing photos on Google plus just got better. The Google Plus team has added pan and zoom features which will allow users to explore small areas of high-resolution pictures that they’ve uploaded on the site.

Google’s Dave Cohen posted about the release on the network stating,

Google+ is full of amazing photos, and today we’re introducing the ability to pan and zoom when viewing photos from your desktop. To give these features a try, simply open a large photo in the lightbox, then:

A Screengrab of the Google Plus post.

• use your mouse wheel to zoom in or out
• click and drag to pan right, left, up or down

We did try out the feature. When you click on the picture in the lightbox on the top left corner you see a small square appear with the plus and minus sign to zoom in and out of a particular spot on the picture.

The functionality should make exploring photos on Google Plus a lot more fun. Remember though results from Google plus are also included into your and your friends’ Google search results. So before sharing pictures, do note which circles you’re sharing the picture with as it could feature in other people’s results.
