The news of a Google Reader update, which was around for a while now, has been made public early today. One look at Google Reader now, and you will notice the updated user interface and theme, which is much like the one seen on other Google products. The other major update is the support for sharing items on the Google+. This means features such as sharing and following friends will disppear from the service. The previously existing features have been replaced with Google+ integration, where you can choose to share an item with specific groups and friends.

Google is also aware of the fact that these changes made might not be to everyone’s liking. This abrupt decision to plug out all older sharing systems might come as a shock to many. Oddly enough, there’s even a tutorial on the blog post, on how to export your subscriptions from Google Reader if you wish to move away from the service. The update is said to be rolled out slowly and all users should see the change by the end of the day. There’s also an update to the Android app expected soon.
