In an age where an internship is more about the learning experience while on the job, than a hefty pay packet, there are a few advantages if you happen to take up a summer internship with companies, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter and a handful of others, wherein in addition to that glossy certificate announcing that you interned there, you also receive the benefit of getting a huge pay packet.

A survey by Business Insider, with information from GlassDoor put up a list of the companies that offer the highest salaries to their interns. The report states, “It's really not surprising that some of the most popular software companies among young engineers and developers also pay the best. We've assembled a list of the tech companies that pay their software engineering and development interns the best.”
They have listed the salaries of some of the interns working for companies, who they presume do a 40-hour per week shift. They have listed the top three companies as Google, Twitter and Facebook who pay their employees $6,874, $6,539 and $6,229, respectively.
Commenting on Google’s salary offering they state, “This was pretty much expected. Google puts its engineers and developers ahead of everyone else in the company, and interns are no exception. If you want to make a ton of money this summer, go work for Google.”
The two biggest social networks, Twitter and Facebook rank second and third, respectively with they offering pay packages to their interns that are more than that of even Apple. The Cupertino brand, who have ranked 8th on the list offer their employees a monthly salary of $5,510 and commenting on this, the author states, “You pretty much have to give Apple a pass on this one. Who wouldn't want to work at a company whose products are literally changing the world?”
There are several other big companies featuring in the list and they include Yahoo!, Microsoft, Zynga, Amazon, Oracle, LinkedIn, IBM and Cisco Systems.
