Hitachi today introduced a line up of 3TB Hard Drives for a broad range of users across various platforms. The Hitachi XL External Desktop Drive offers users a simple and easy way to save and backup their data. The hard drives are available in 3TB, 2TB and 1TB capacities.

Above the World

For the Desktop user, Hitachi also announced that it is shipping its 3TB, 2TB and 1.5TB Deskstar 7K3000 to OEMs and select partners. The new Deskstar 7K3000 drive delivers an blend of reliability, capacity, performance and power efficiency for video RAID arrays, home or business PCs, high-performance workstations and gaming systems.

For the more power-conscious builder, Hitachi has the Deskstar 5K3000 which delivers low power and quieter operation for environmentally-friendly computers. Available in 3TB, 2TB and 1.5TB with a 32MB Buffer, these drives combine Hitachi’s ‘Coolspin’ Technology to create a new class of performance-optimized, energy-efficient drives that run cooler and require less power. The 5K3000's power consumption is apparently 29 percent lower and is quieter by 14 percent than the DeskStar 7K3000.

The Hitachi XL 2TB and 1TB Desktop External Drives are now available, and the Hitachi XL 3TB Desktop External Drive will be available in mid of January 2011. MSRPs are US$249.99 for 3TB, US$169.99 for 2TB and US$99.99 for 1TB respectively.

The Deskstar 7K3000 have already been shipped to retailers, while the 1.5TB and 2TB 5K3000 will ship this month with the 3TB 5K3000 shipping next quarter.
