Augmented reality is the hot stuff right now and with the addition of Word Lens, Google Goggles already has a competitor. Google's been releasing Demo Slam videos where they demonstrate how their products work and this one's a personal favourite.
A bunch of guys (we reckon they're Google employees going by the excited nerd factor) dress up as a pretty iconic landmark, Mount Rushmore and try to see if Goggles will pick it up. The first attempt was clearly unsuccessful as you'll see in the video. With the addition of trees and other minute details, Goggles successfully recognized the image as Mount Rushmore. Clearly, you can't fool Goggles without every little detail and it's a precise little service. I'm looking forward to the day Goggles will be able to recognize and tell the difference between big mountains like Everest and K2.
